When the Add products action is enabled, customers can add items to their order during the edit window. By default they can add anything from your catalog. With a curated product catalog, you can narrow that down to a specific, hand-picked list.
How it works
The catalog behaves as a simple allow-list:
Empty list = full catalog. Customers can add any product in your store. This is the default.
Populated list = those products only. Customers can only see and add products you've selected.
That's it. There's no partial mode.
Picking products for the curated catalog
Go to Order Editing Settings → Manage on the App blocks & edit actions configurations card.
Scroll to the Curated product catalog section.
Use the product picker to search and add products one by one.
Re-order the list if you want specific items to show first in the customer picker.
Click Save at the top of the page.
Products are added by product (not by variant). All variants of a curated product are available to customers, subject to inventory.
Only show in-stock products
By default, the picker shows every eligible product, even ones that are out of stock — and if you allow backorders ("continue selling when out of stock"), those stay available too. That can lead customers to add something you can't ship.
Turn on Only show in-stock products — a checkbox on the Product Catalog page — to filter the customer-facing pickers down to what's actually in stock. It applies everywhere a customer chooses a product or variant during an edit (Add products, Replace products, and Change variant) and works at two levels:
- Whole products with no in-stock variants are hidden from the list.
- Individual variants that are out of stock are removed from the options, so a customer can only pick an in-stock size or color. (A product with three variants where one is out of stock shows the other two.)
A variant counts as "in stock" only when it's available for sale and not relying on backorder / continue-selling. The setting is off by default, so nothing changes for your store until you turn it on. It works in both curated and show-all modes.
